Cryptic #8: The Slow Brown Fox

My Eighth Crossword Another normal one today. Not much to preamble on about, but I do now stream on  Twitch , on Fridays at 8pm GMT, or 7am Saturday in Sydney, or 3pm Friday in New York. Feel free to join me if you'd like. Some nice clues in this one - maybe a bit more middle-of-the-road than usual. Have fun! - GAIS, 24/01/21

Tidbits: Uluru (Wordoku #1)

As promised, here's a puzzle which is not a cryptic crossword. Having been inspired by Michael X, then more recently MentalPlayground and Jack Keynes, I decided to make a wordoku: a sudoku with letters, and none given at the start. This was a nuisance to grid, but then everything fell into place, and it was great fun. Got decent reviews too. Have fun! - GAIS, 16/01/21

Cryptic #7: x = 8.15

My Seventh Crossword  Just a normal one today, after last week's absolute monster.  Not much to say, other than I really love some of the clues here, despite the presence of an obscure word or two.  Massive thanks to Jack Keynes for test solving. #8 has been gridded already, so expect it out probably before the month ends. By the way, I plan to stream maybe once a week at 9:30pm GMT* on Fridays, starting on the 15th. Follow me over on https://twitch.tv/go_away_im_sleeping if you so wish. Have fun! - GAIS, 13/01/21 *That's 1:30pm in California, 4:30pm in New York, 10:30pm in Western Europe, 5:30am Saturday in Singapore, and 8:30am Saturday in Sydney.

Cryptic #6: Headless deer? Sounds viscous - thanks!

My Sixth Crossword And my second themer, as promised - and what a theme. A pretty tricksy theme too - I don't know if you'll even notice it in some spots. This was an absolute pain, both to grid and to clue. Thanks to MP and his stream for test solving, even though a lot of the theme didn't end up working, and massive thanks to Jack Keynes and Elwood for helping me re-clue it. It's much better now than it was an hour or so ago. #7 has been partially gridded, so expect it out in the next few weeks. Ooh! I almost forgot. I will start streaming on Twitch hopefully sometime this week, probably around Friday or Saturday, so make sure to follow me  over there . Have fun! - GAIS, 11/01/21

Cryptic #5: What's Eurovision?

My Fifth Crossword Normal one today. A few tricky ones, some obscure words, some cryptic definitions, but I'm pretty happy with the result. This grid featured the last of the OG Seed Entries: clues that I've had in my mind for the past year or so, but couldn't fit them into any previous grids. #6 has been gridded already - but I've decided that every 3rd grid will be a themer, and #6's theme will be an absolute pain to clue, so don't hold your breath. Thanks to everyone on MentalPlayground's stream (see left) for test solving, and especially to femvoxfan and Jack Keynes for helping me re-grid it: the initial version had some awful words in it. (The title is a reference to a Milton Jones joke, by the way.) Have fun! - GAIS, 02/01/21

Cryptic #4: I'm Sorry, Clark

My Fourth Crossword  Damn, this did not take long. There's no theme this time - maybe that could be every 3rd grid? I know my puzzles' difficulties often vary, even in the same puzzle, and I think that's especially true for this one. This also features my first departure from the "words-going-across-and-down-all-4-sides-of-the-grid" pattern, which is something that I nearly couldn't bring myself to do. It's currently exam season for me, so don't get your hopes up about the next one being out soon. However, it  is  already completely gridded. Once again, thank you so much to MentalPlayground for testing it out. Have fun! - GAIS, 24/12/20 P.S. My GCSEs (double English, triple science, maths, Mandarin, French, Latin and music) might have meant less cruciverbalism, but have also resulted in  this .

Cryptic #3: XXX

My Third Crossword  And my first themer, three weeks ahead of schedule! I didn't want to go for the usual "these clues have no definition" sort of theme, so I came up with something probably a bit more original. I hope the theme isn't too UK-centric. I reckon this is my most difficult, but also best, puzzle yet. And the grid shapes in the last two left a bit to be desired: I'm proud of this one. Tremendous apologies for some of the clues, and once again, thank you so much to MentalPlayground, Jack Keynes, Danny Vibes and Julian O for testing it out. Seeing how quickly this one took, the next one should be out some time in the Lent term. Have fun! - GAIS, 23/11/20
